It becomes our painful duty to record the death of Mrs. Catherine Fassett, which occurred Sunday, July 15, 1900. A fond and affectionate mother, a neighbor beloved by all is thus removed from among us to that brighter and happier home above. The emptiness of words is poor consolation to the stricken children who have lost the kind loving ever-wise advice of their mother who has guided them through life from the cradle to manhood and womanhood. Grieve not. Let the knowledge that it is the work of an all-wise Providence be balm to your aching hearts. The consignment of the flesh back to earth, from whence it sprung, is not the end.

Mrs. Fassett had suffered for a number of years from heart trouble. She was a patient sufferer, abiding her time. Seeing her family well established in life she was satisfied that her work was done and was ready, even anxious to meet her Savior.

Catherine Fassett was born at Wilkes-barre, Pa., September 29, 1832. She was married to Elihu Fassett at Wilkesbarre on June 7, 1850. She was the mother of nine children, seven of whom are living, Thomas the eldest is in Arkansas, Smith, Ales, Wesley, Mrs. Wilson, Mrs. Jardine and Gilbert all live here.

She was 67 years, 9 months and 16 days of age at the time of death.

Funeral services were held at the Armory Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. Robeson and Rev. Geddes conducted the services. Interment in Lake Shutte cemetery. A large concourse of friends followed the remains to their resting place.
