He was united in marriage with Mary Ann Maulding on Nov. 26, l872 and to this union was born four children: Emma, who died in infancy, Anna who departed this life J. E. and J. P. Rawls both of near McLeansboro still survive him.
After his marriage he and his wife located on a farm near Dahlgren where they have spent their entire life.
He professed faith in Christ when a young man and united with Burnt Hill Baptist Church. In this church he was ordained a deacon and he served as clerk for a number of years. When this church disbanded he moved his membership to Blooming Grove where he remained until death claimed him. He was a devoted Christian and remained loyal to his church to the last. George was an industrious and energetic citizen and was found on the side of the right
He was a devoted husband, a kind father, a good neighbor and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He leaves to mourn their loss a devoted wife, two sons, two brothers, four sisters and a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at Blooming Grove November 17, conducted by Elds. J. H Allen, John Maulding & C.W. Maulding
