CHARLESTON– Rebecca Carmen Fore Allen, 86, entered the kingdom of God on Sunday, February 15, 2015. Visitation for family and friends will be held at Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia at 200 State Street, West Columbia, South Carolina. A memorial service will be held at Thompson Funeral Home, West Columbia Chapel. Interment will follow in Southland Memorial Gardens in West Columbia.
She was born in Latta, South Carolina, on August. 21, 1928, Carmen was the daughter of the late Willis Kinlaw and Carrie Pearce Fore. She graduated from Latta High School and Lees-McRae College. Following a career with the Florence Morning News, Carmen joined her husband to found and manage C.D. Allen Realty Company. She valued her family above all else and was always a strong support system for her loved ones. Her kindness, compassion and wit will be forever missed, and her strong legacy will live on through her loving family and friends. Carmen was predeceased by her husband, Cyril David “C.D” Allen, Jr. and her eldest daughter, Rosalind René Allen
She is survived by her beloved children and grandchildren, including son Cyril David “Chip” Allen, III and his wife Tammy of Pelion, daughter Susan Allen Jennings and her husband Michael of Johns Island and grandson Rockwell Allen Baker and his wife Liz of Anchorage, Alaska. She is also survived by grandchildren, Brittany Allen, Cyril “David” Allen, IV and Joseph Sadler and two great grandchildren; and her older sister Alyce Palmore of Jackson, Mississippi.
The youngest of 10, Carmen was predeceased by her brothers, Henry, Lloyd, Lee, Kenneth and Wendell Fore as well as her sisters Sarah, Cordelia and Maxine.
