"Aunt" Edna Eckel, 99, of McLeansboro, died 12:28 p.m. May 11, 2006, at Hamilton Memorial Nursing Center in McLeansboro.

She had been a bookkeeper for Kmart in Des Plaines.

Visitation was from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday May 14 at Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro. Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Monday May 15 at the funeral home with the Rev. Ron Lamp and the Rev. Larry Woodrow officiating. Burial was in IOOF Cemetery.

Born July 8, 1906, in McLeansboro, she was a daughter of Felix Mansfield Shuster and Bertha (Hawthorne) Shuster. She married Joseph Carl Eckel on April 8, 1925, in Flora and he died June 26, 1971.

She attended Springerton Christian Church and was a member of the Cisne Chapter 973 Easter Star.

Survivors include a daughter, Ruth Ann Montgomery of McLeansboro; a grandson, Carl Drake of McLeansboro; a granddaughter, Mary Catron and husband Jeff of Jacksonville, NC; three great grandchildren, Justin Drake, Daniel Catron and Robin Catron; a brother, Ed Shuster of McLeansboro; a sister in law, Ann Shuster of Estero, FL, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and three brothers: Frank, Joe and Fred Shuster.
