Madeline I. McKee, 91 of Douglas, Wyoming and Lubbock, Texas, passed away on Thursday February 5, 2015 at Douglas Care Center in Douglas.

Madeline was born in Cisco, Texas, November 22, 1923, to Ralston and Dora (McFall) Blackburn. She was the youngest of seven children. When Madeline was only two, her mother died, and since her father supported his family as a traveling salesman, Madeline was in large part raised by her older brothers and sisters, a unique situation which created an even stronger bond than the usual sibling relationship. After graduation from high school, she attended North Texas State Teachers College (now the University of North Texas) in Denton. Upon receiving her teacher's certificate, she began teaching in the community school outside of O'Donnell, Texas, where she met Walter D. McKee, who was recently returned from the war in Europe. They fell in love and married in 1946. In 1948 their only child, Robert, was born in Weatherford, Texas. Walter made a career of the United States Air Force, and the young McKee family lived the nomad life of military service, moving every few years until they eventually settled in Lubbock, Texas.

Madeline was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and siblings.

She is survived by her son, Robert; daughter-in-law, Kathy; grandson, Kent; granddaughter, Jessica; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
