Robert F. Zessin was born on January 21, 1929 in Madison to Edward and Martha (Fricke) Zessin. He was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church and attended school at Madison Public Schools. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict.
Bob married Deloris Prauner on August 30, 1953 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Heights Church south of Battle Creek. He farmed west of Madison until retiring and moving into Madison in 1984. He then drove a van for the Madison Public Schools, transporting the special needs children to Norfolk on a daily basis. He also drove cars for Morrissey Motor Company for a number of years and made courier runs for Madison County Bank for ten years. Bob was also an associate of Resseguie Funeral Home and assisted with funerals for over 20 years.
Bob was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where he served in many different ways. He loved to play golf, watch football and golf on TV, and care for his cats and dogs. Bob took up woodworking and created numerous pieces of work which he shared with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Edward and three sisters, Eva, Claretta, and Emmelene.
