Willie Branscum, 76, of Searcy, formerly of Newark, died Monday, December 8, 2014 at his home.

Born March 15, 1938 in the Big Bottom Community of Independence County, he was the son of A.J. “Shorty” and Irene (Osborn) Branscum.

He was a machinist for Boeing Aircraft in Wichita, Kansas and also worked at White-Rodgers in Batesville until his retirement.

He was a member of DAV and the First Missionary Baptist Church in Newark. He served his country in the U. S. Marines during the Viet Nam era. He enjoyed fishing, especially for crappie and was a skilled wood worker. Mostly, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include his son, Scotty Branscum of Searcy; three grandchildren, Chris Branscum of Monticello, Lauren Branscum of Sheridan, and Jacob Branscum of El Dorado; one great-grandchild, Slade Branscum of Sheridan. Other survivors include a brother, David Branscum of Southside; two sisters, Betty Roberts of Newark and Floy Pearson of Evening Shade; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Robbie (Batson) Branscum; five brothers, Claude Branscum, Jerry Branscum, Richard Branscum, James Branscum and Roy Branscum; and one sister, Helen Jones.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday at Roller-Crouch Chapel with Dave Campbell officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Springs Cemetery in Newark under the direction of Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Batesville.

Pallbearers will be James Branscum Jr., Matt Branscum, Stephen Branscum, Kruz Roberts, Richard Matheny, and Tommy Dixon. Honorary pallbearers are Ryan Branscum, Bryan Branscum, and Dennis Roberts.

Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
