Fairfield-Ruth Mabel Rollins, 81, died peacefully on Monday, September 22, 2014, in Palmyra. Ruth was born on December 5, 1932, in Brooks, Maine, the daughter of Fenton and Abbie (Nickerson) Roberts. She was a caring and compassionate wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. She was a wonderful gardener and enjoyed canning, especially pickles and green tomato mincemeat. She was famous for her pickled beets.

Ruth worked for 27 years in the coffee shop at the Maine General. She enjoyed being a part of the Friday luncheons at the Universalist Church in Pittsfield. She was a faithful member of the Church of Christ in Unity for many years. She will be lovingly missed and remembered.

She is survived by her three children, Paula Salley and husband, Steven, of Pittsfield, Pat Roberts and husband, Ed, of New York and Scott Rollins of Fairfield; four grandchildren, Chris McManus and his partner, Baju Wijono, of New York, Mark McManus and wife, Jillian, of North Carolina, Lisa Salley Erhardt and husband, Mark, of Orono and Joey Salley and wife, Lee Ann, of Pittsfield; four great grandsons, Shane McManus, Brody McManus, both of North Carolina, Emmett and Eli Salley, both of Pittsfield; sister, Mary Tobey of Arlington, Massachusetts; sisters-in-law, Claire Roberts of Barre, Vermont and Edith Gamblin and husband, Walter, of Pittsfield; brother-in law, Gary Rollins and wife, Beverly, of Pittsfield; several nieces and nephews; and special care giver and friend, Joanne Meagher of Palmyra.

She was predeceased by her parents; her loving husband, Freeman Rollins; brother, Rexford Roberts; half-siblings, Edward Roberts, Lloyd Roberts and Christine Redding; sister-in-law, Ruth Wells; and brothers-in-law, Carl Rollins and Carlton Rollins.

A committal service will be at the Jackson Corner Cemetery in Jackson, Maine.
