There are many who remember Dr. Clegg when he came to this country as a evangelist from England.
Although Mrs. Clegg had been in ill health for the past four years, her passing yesterday morning was unexpected.
A daughter of the late Joseph Chilcote and Elmira Vaughn Chilcote, she was born on May 23, 1878 at Houchdale, Pa., where she spent the first ten years of her life. Prior to moving to Virginia in 1920, Mrs. Clegg had resided at Curwenville, Pa.
A resident of Lacey Spring since 1925, Mrs. Clegg had made her home at Singers Glen and Elkton. It was during his pastorate at Lacey Spring that Rev. Mr. Clegg retired from the ministry.
Mrs. Clegg had been living with her daughter in Jacksonville since February. Mrs. Clegg was a member of the Lacey Spring EUB Church.
Surviving are a son, William G. Clegg of Lacey Spring, a daughter, Mrs. R.C. Ray, of Jacksonville, Fla., and a brother, Herbert A. Chilcote, of Curwenville. Pa.
Funeral services will be held Friday morning at eleven o'clock from the Lacey Spring EUB Church, with her pastor, the Rev. John L. Garber Jr., in charge.
Burial will be in the Lacey Spring Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Layton O. Armentrout, Robert L. Cootes, Ervin L. Chapman, Lawrence G. Baker, E.A. Strawderman, William A. Brock, Edward W. Biller, and W.E. Maddox.
