Barbara H. Guinn, 69, of Hewitt, passed away on Tuesday, August 19, 2014, on her 69th birthday, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. Funeral at 2:00 at Grace Gardens Funeral Home, with Rev. Roy Marshall officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, August 21, at Grace Gardens Funeral Home.

Barbara was born in Port Arthur, Texas, to the late Frank Marshall and Bonnie Lee Shaw Hatchel, the third of eight children. Her family moved to Kaufman, Texas, when Barbara was a young child and she graduated from Kaufman High School in 1963.

She married Dwane Guinn in 1977 and moved to Hewitt in 1978. Barbara treasured being a stay at home mom while her children were young. After raising them, she worked at Baylor University for 17 years until she retired. She was a member of Hewitt First Baptist Church.

Barbara enjoyed gardening and cooking, but more than anything else, she enjoyed her time with her family, especially her children.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Rickey and James; and sister, Sonja.

Survivors include her husband, Dwane; daughter, Alain Humphrey and husband, Russell, of Hewitt; sons, Michael Guinn and wife, Jessica, of Waco, and Buddy Guinn and wife, Nella, of Blanco; grandchildren, Madison and McKenna Humphrey, and Gavin Guinn; sisters, Jean Hall, of Mesquite, Kay Foster, of Plano, and Gail Tilson, of Kaufman; brother, Marshall Hatchel, of Kaufman; and many other extended family members.
