He married Ada May Alexander on July 5, 1957, in Pioneer, Tx., at the home of the Bride. To this marriage was born a son, Dolce Pate (Skip) Jones.
Some of his tours included one in Paxriver, Md., one tour in Hawaii, where his son was born, and 4 years on Midway Island. He especially loved his time on Midway because he was able to be plane captain on both the HU16 and helicopters. He also had 3 tours at the Corpus Christi Naval Air Station.
After return from the Navy in 1974, he earned his associates degree in crimnal justice and spent 4 years as a deputy sheriff in Nueces Co., Tx. He went back to work at CCAD NAS working on helicopters. He retired in 1991, moved to Pioneer where he and May took up farming.
His hobbies included building a Prodactyl ultra-light, which he planned to fly again one day. Building models and collector of many other interesting items. He was a lover of animals like cats, birds, rabbits, and llamas.
He is survived by his wife, Ada May Jones of Pioneer, son Dolce Pate (Skip) Jones, Jr., of Aransas Pass, Tx., and his wife Susan Bell, 3 sisters, LaMurel Paulson of Shreveport, La; Annette Stoval of Livingston, Tx; and Cookie Jones of Waskon, Tx.; Sister-in-law, Kathy Jones of Winchester, Va., 4 grandchildren; Pate Jones III, (who was more like a son than a grandson), Brandon Alexander Jones; Brennon Doss Pate Jones; Brooklyn Bell, and 1 Great grandson, Aiden Parker Jones. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Buelah Pate; 2 brothers, Jimmy Jones, and Bill Jones.
