JAMES H. "JIMMY" JONES SR. is the son of John Marb Jones and Mrs. Beulah Pate Faulk Jones Huffman. He is the stepson of John N. "Nip" Huffman.

An obituary was published as follows:

"Oakland, California -- Funeral services for James H. Jones, 39, of Oakland, California, were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Chapel of the Chimes in Oakland. Burial followed in Mountain View Cemetery.

Mr. Jones, a native of Unadilla, Georgia, who later attended the Marshall public schools, died at 2 a.m. on June 26, 1977 in the Oakland Naval Hospital.

Born November 7, 1937, Mr. Jones served in the U.S. Navy for 24 years. While in Naples, Italy, he was selected as the director of the special services sports program. In the Phillipines, Mr. Jones was named the All-Navy softball team. He attended Southwest Texas State at San Marcos; University of Maryland; Southwestern Junior College in San Diego, California; Beeville Junior College in Beeville, Texas; and Contra Costa College in San Pablo, California. While attending Contra Costa College, he was a full-time student, majoring in advanced engineering management. Mr. Jones was also a part-time instructor of non-destructive testing technology and engineering management. He was a member of the American Society of Quality Control, the Contra Costa College Technical Education Committee and the California Teacher Credential Metals Association. Mr. Jones was employed by the Bechtel Power Corporation in San Francisco, California as an in-plant inspection technical consultant to Taiwan Nuclear Power. After a number of months of work, Mr. Jones became a certified engineer in the State of California in the spring of 1977.

He is survived by his widow, Diane Jones of Oakland; two sons, James Jones Jr. and John Jones, both of Oakland; one daughter, Terri Jones of Oakland; his mother, Pate Jones Huffman of Marshall, Texas; his stepfather, John Huffman of Marshall; his mother-in-law, Lillian Mighell of Oakland; two brothers, Dolce Jones of Corpus Christi, Texas and Billy "B.G." Jones of Norfolk, Virginia; three sisters, LaMuriel Pepper of Shreveport, Louisiana, Annette Stovall of Houston, Texas and Cookie Lea of Arlington, Texas; seven nephews; and three nieces.

The family requests those wishing to send follows to send contributions to the American Heart Association."
