Funeral services for Alustree "Dimple" Whitman, 75, Tyler, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 9, 2014, at St. Louis Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Delvin Atkins and the Rev. Ralph Caraway Sr. officiating.
Burial will be in Cathedral in the Pines Cemetery under direction of Brooks-Sterling & Garrett Funeral Directors, Tyler.
Mrs. Whitman died July 2, 2014, in Mesquite.
She was born Nov. 12, 1938, in Crockett and had resided for more than 50 years in Smith County. She was a graduate of Ralph Bunch High School and Texas Southern University School of Business. She was a member of St. Louis Baptist Church, and a cosmetologist/hair weaving specialist. She was an entrepreneur and owner of 21st Century Beauty Salon, a pianist and singer.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Salas and Palmetta Marshall; and daughter, Shaketha Denise Bell.
Survivors include daughters, Feleicia Lester (Stanley), Shreveport, La., Jennifer Price (David), Desoto, Febrina Oliver, Mesquite, Von-Hagger Cornelius (Fredrick), Cedar Hill; sisters, Earle Groves, Fadine David; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
