Peter B. Loewen was born in Molotschna Colony in South Russia to Peter Loewen and Aganetha Bartel Loewen. He Immigrated with his family aboard the S.S. Austrian, arriving in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada on August 20, 1874.
On February 5, 1888, he married Maria B. Giesbrecht, daughter of Cornelius D. and his first wife, Maria Fehr.
Peter B. and Maria were married in the Rural Municipality of Hanover, Manitoba, Canada.
Their first two children, Cornelius G. Loewen (1890-1987) and Jacob G. Loewen (1892-1986) were born in Manitoba.
Peter G. Loewen (1895-1946) was born in Jansen, Nebraska. The other 6 children were born in Hillsboro, Kansas: David G. (1898-1982); Maria G. (married Harry Spence) (1900-1944); Helena G.(1902-1931); Isaac G.(1905-1964); Abraham G. (1907-1909)and Margaret G. "Greta" (1914-1996) (married Jake Fast).
