Both of Virgil's parents were born in Whitley Co., KY and both died in McCreary Co., KY. He was the third of their seven known children.
On Dec. 22, 1923 Virgil married Ernie Mae Daugherty (1907-1995). They had three known children prior to their divorce in the late 1930s. They were Mary E. King (1924-1925), Esther Dean King (1925-1992) and Herstle King (1928-1930).
About 1940 Virgil married Rinda "Rindie" Clark (1918-2011). Like Virgil she was a native of McCreary co., KY. Rindie was the daughter of William Harvey Clark (1878-1943) and Mary Jane Swain (1877-1970).
When Virgil died in 1990 at the age of 84 he and Rindie had been married for about 50 years. He was buried in the Duncan Cemetery in McCreary Co., KY where his parents and five of his six brothers are buried.
Rindie never remarried. She died in 2011 at the age of 92 and was buried in the Duncan Cemetery next to her husband Virgil.
