Mildred Handy Cannaday, 78, of Martinsville, died Wednesday, July 31, 2013, at Memorial Hospital in Martinsville.
She was born in Patrick County, August 18, 1934 to Claude Swanson Handy and Lillie Mae Mabe Handy. She was a member of Trinity Friends Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert Randolph Cannaday; six brothers, Bernard, Clifton, Clarence, Hudell, Harvey and Howard Handy.
She is survived by one sister, Rachel H. Spencer and husband, Wade of Wedgefield, S.C.; nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held Friday, August 2, 2013, at 12 Noon at Community Funeral Services in Ridgeway with Pastor Karl Luff officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery in Ridgeway.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service at Community Funeral Services.
