Jeremiah Ferguson and his wife Polly Louise McGee are the ancestors of James Larkin Pearson, the late Poet Laureate of North Carolina. They are also ancestors of Zachary and Billy Ferguson and the Barlow families. Jeremiah Ferguson came from a very large family. It is said that there were 14 children. Six of the children never married. Letter of April 17, 2000: Jeremiah Ferguson, Polly Louise (McGee) Ferguson, and son Thomas Barlow are buried in the Ferguson, NC Cemetery. They have no grave markers, but we know where their graves are located. We are in the process of getting funds started to get grave stones for them. Letter of Dec 15, 2001: several of the kin-folks got together and made donations to buy a new head stone for Jeremiah, Polly Louise, and their son Thomas Ferguson. They had it put up two weeks ago. It is small but nice. They have been dead for 121 years.
