Edward Guthrie is son of James William Guthrie and Frances Ellen (James) Guthrie. Ed married Ethel Faith (Crowell) Southerland on Nov 22, 1920 in Paducah, Ky. They had a son born to that union named Charles Edward Guthrie and Charles was an ace pilot. When Ed married Ethel, Ethel had a daughter, named Mildred from her previous marriage to Bryan Southerland. Mildred was just 4yrs old and she loved Ed Guthrie because he loved her and treated her like she was his very own. Ed was a loving husband, father, step-father and grandfather. Me and my siblings called him, "Pa Ed". Ed worked in the coal mines, loved to fish and was a magnificent carpenter. He made us a a rocking horse and also a table and 4 chairs for Christmas one year...they looked like they were store-bought! Ed died of cancer when he was 55 years old. He was the only grandpa, us kids knew and we all loved him dearly. He was a kind gentle soul. Ed died before his son's 4 children were born, so they never knew him. I can truly say that they would have loved him, too! By Kaye Harkins McClintock
