Harriett Yates Reid Our beloved mother and grandmother died peacefully Saturday, April 27. She was born and raised in Sanford, FL on January 30, 1928.

Harriett was predeceased by her husband of 34 years, John R. Reid and step-daughter Judy Barnett Smith. She is survived by: daughter Mary Ellis (Justin) and son Del R. Reid of Medina, TN; grandchildren Kalie Reid, Justin Ellis, Jr., Reid Ellis of Jacksonville, FL and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Harriett was an active member of South Jacksonville Presbyterian Church for almost 60 years having taught Sunday school, assisted in the kitchen and crafted table decorations for many church activities. She will also be remembered for her beautiful sewing and quilting skills.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the caring and compassionate staff at Community Hospice, St. Vincent's-Southside and Taylor Care Center.

The family will receive friends for visitation on Wednesday, May 1 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at George H. Hewell and Son Funeral Home, 4140 University Blvd., S. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 2, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. in South Jacksonville Presbyterian Church, 2137 Hendricks Ave., with Dr. Vincent K. Kolb officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery.
