Born December 4, 1936 in the Riverdale Community of Kent County, Eugene was a son of the late Earnest McKinley and Callie (Johnson) Shipp. Eugene was a life-long resident of Fisher County. He ranched and operated the Shipp Locker Plant in Roby before going to work at Big Country Electric where he retired after twenty-eight years. Eugene married Carra Buelene Kiker on December 22, 1967 in Roby. He was the Fire Chief for the volunteer fire department in Roby for many years and liked visiting and drinking coffee at the Silver Spur and Silver Star. Eugene also enjoyed working his cows and horses. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Roby. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Carra in 1998, and four brothers, (Marvin, Harvey Lee, Dan, and, Herschel Shipp).
Eugene is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Damon and Shelby Shipp of Rotan, John Shipp of Roby, and David and Kimberly Shipp of Roby; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Vickey and David Thayer of Longview, Jackie Lane of Katy, TX, Melissa Dulin of Potosi, and Sharron "Tardy" and Darrin Leverton of Colorado City; twenty grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Winfred and Barbara Shipp of Lake Brownwood and Andy Shipp of Rotan; a sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy Faye and Leroy Walden of Abilene; numerous nieces and nephews; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Tommy and Becca Frierson and a sister-in-law Sharon Davis.
