Lewis Fitch Neyland, 79, the son of Gen. Robert R. Neyland and Ada Fitch Neyland, passed away on Saturday morning, March 2, 2013, at his residence.

Lewis grew up in Knoxville, TN and moved to Chattanooga, TN in the early 1960s attending Baylor School and Knox High School, Castle Heights Military Academy before entering the University of Tennessee. He was outstanding athlete having played on Basketball, Tennis and Golf Teams. He graduated University of Tennessee with a bachelors degree in business administration.

Lewis started out as a salesman for Container Corp. and later went into business owning Neyalnd Packaging Co until its closing in 1995. Lewis was also an avid amateur golfer and bridge player.

In addition to his parents Lewis was also preceded in death by his son, Lewis Jr.; and stepdaughter, Lisa Ownby.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Elizabeth "Libby" Parsons Neyland; daughter, Kim Gleckler and grandson, Jason Martin, of Fort Myers, FL; brother, Robert R. (Anne) Neyland, of Nashville, TN; several nieces and nephews and close brother and sisters-in-law.Lewis will lie-in-state one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 7, 2013, in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Kerry Smith officiating.

Entombment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the University of Tennessee Athletic Department.
