Richard N. 'Dick' Chilcote, 82, formerly of South Third St., Altoona, died Sat., Feb. 2, 2013 at The Lutheran Home at Hollidaysburg. He was born in Altoona to Isaac N. & Ada (Ott) Chilcote. He married Patricia A. Barry on July 3, 1953, in Altoona and she died January 31, 2008. Survived by children: daughter, Traci L. (Chilcote) O'Neal of Altoona, son, R. Scott Chilcote & wife, Maria, of Springfield, VA, son, Bruce E. Chilcote & wife, Sharli, of Altoona, son, Steven M. & wife, Melania, of Wilmington, DE; 8 grandchildren: Jesse Dill, Shane and Trisha O'Neal, Francesca, Gabriella, Kara, Melissa and Sarah Chilcote; 4 great-grandchildren: Kathryn, Hannah, Colin and Liam; and a sister, Barbara Suzanne Slagle & husband, Harley, of Bellemead. Predeceased by sisters: Sarah Chilcote, Carol Porter and Sylvia Leader; and brother, Bob Chilcote. Mr. Chilcote was a member of Altoona First Church of the Brethren, where he sang in the choir, served as deacon and served in various other capacities. He was a 1949 graduate of Altoona High School and was a graduate of Penn State University with a degree in civil engineering. Dick retired as a civil engineer from PennDOT in 2000. He had previously been employed by Gwin, Dobson and Foreman for 23 years. He was a U.S.M.C. veteran serving during the Korean Conflict from 1950 to 1953. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking and welding. Dick was a former member of the Heidelberg Country Club. Myers-Somers Funeral Home, 501 Sixth Ave., Altoona. Interment, Alto-Reste Park Cemetery.
