Charlotte Jackson, formerly of Nicoma Park, died Tuesday, June 14, 1994 in Mustang, Ok. Born September 28, 1914, she was the eldest of six children of Roy and Mollie Jackson and granddaughter of 89ers Ephriam and Lotta Jackson, who preceded her in death.

She led a challenging and productive life, and her humor and intelligence touched all she met. A lifelong resident of Oklahoma City, she graduated from Classen High School in 1932. She practiced her Baptist religion and loved her family.

She followed an early career as a cosmetologist then graduated in 1950 with BS in Geology from Oklahoma City University. She did graduate work in micro paleontology at the University of Oklahoma.

She joined the Oklahoma Corporation Commission in 1960, retiring as a staff geologist in 1978.

She was among the few women geologists of her time and those few who belonged to the geological societies. She was certified by the American Association of Petroleum Geologists and the Professional Geologists of America.

She was listed in "Two Thousand Women of Achievement", a world-wide publication; "Who's Who in American Women"; "Who's Who in Oklahoma"; and "Leaders in American Science".

She was noted by the American Bicentennial Research Institute as an American Valuable Human Resource. She was a member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists, the American Institute of Geologists, the Society of Economic Paleontologists and Mineralogists, and the Oklahoma City Geological Society.
Survivors include her daughter, Nancy Denton, Mustang; four grandchildren, Melissa Denton, Olympia, Washington, Michael Denton, Oklahoma City, Marianne McDaniel, Mustang, Michelle Denton, Oklahoma City; sisters, Mary Jensen, Anchorage, Alaska, Ruth Wills, Oklahoma City, Lou Ella Fitzgerald, Mustang; and brother, Roy Jackson, Oklahoma City; and each of their families.

Graveside services are 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 17, 1994 at Fairlawn Cemetery, Oklahoma City under the direction of Bill Merritt Funeral Home, Mustang.
