She was the daughter of the late Robert Lee and Lula Goodlett Hester and was born November 18, 1928, in Greenville.
Mrs. Tumblin was a graduate of Parker High School, Class of 1945, a homemaker, and a lifelong member of Morgan Memorial Baptist Church. She will be remembered for her gracious manner and her steadfast devotion to her family. She touched the lives of many people with her generous spirit and will be greatly missed. Most important was Mrs. Tumblin's strong faith in God and her relationship with Jesus Christ, which was evident to all who knew her.
Surviving in addition to her husband of 60 years, are two daughters, Sandra T. White and husband, Frank, of Greenville, and Elaine T. Anderson of Greenville; two sisters, Grace H. Yarbray of Travelers Rest, and Nancy H. (Robert) Harris of Greenville; a brother, Donnie L. (Barbara) Hester of Mooresville, N.C.; a brother-in-law, Bill Smith of Greenville; three grandchildren, Shannon Anderson Westfall and David Taylor of Taylors, Donald Eric Anderson and wife, Lisa, of Travelers Rest, and Kristen White Cox and husband, Michael, of Florence; five great-grandchildren who were the light of her life, Zachary Westfall, Alli Anderson, Anthony Evett, Emily Cox and Anna Cox.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Tumblin was preceded in death by a sister, Betty H. Smith of Greenville, a brother, Robert L. "Buddy" Hester Jr. of Anderson, a son-in-law, Donald W. Anderson, and a grandson-in-law, Kevin J. Westfall.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Feb. 21 at 3 p.m. in the Chapel of the Woodlawn Funeral Home conducted by the Rev. Seth Hester and the Rev. Jeremy Chism. Interment will follow in the Woodlawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 1:30 to 2:15 p.m. prior to the service, and they will be at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Frank White, 2 Wheatridge Drive.
