Edna N. Sooby, 81, of Madison Street, Wilkes-Barre, died Sunday at her summer residence in Harveys Lake.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of the late William and Sarah Robinson Nichols. She was a graduate of Coughlin High School.
She graduated from the Homeopathic Hospital School of Nursing, Wilkes-Barre, as a registered nurse. She was employed as a staff nurse at Homeopathic Hospital, and later at Wyoming Valley Hospital, Wilkes-Barre for more than 30 years. Prior to her retirement, she was a private duty nurse.
She was a member of Holy Cross Episcopal Church, Wilkes-Barre, and was a member of its choir for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilkes-Barre Police Lt. Robert L. Sooby, in 1976.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Deanna F. Kelly; and grandson, Michael J. Kelly, both of Woodhaven, Queens, N.Y.
Her funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday from the H. Merritt Hughes Funeral Home, 451 N. Main St., Wilkes-Barre, with Requiem Eucharist at 11 a.m. in Holy Cross Episcopal Church. The Rev. Alexander Seabrook, priest-in-charge, will officiate.
Interment will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Hanover Township.
