Ronald Lewis Allison, 69, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012, surrounded by family and friends. A celebration service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, at Antioch Community Church, 510 N. 20th. Internment with military honors will follow at 3 p.m., Saturday, at Bosqueville Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Friday, at OakCrest Funeral Home, Waco.

Ron was born in Clarendon, Texas, to the late Ray and Billie (Marshall) Allison. He graduated from Wichita Falls High School and went into the U.S. Navy. After his discharge, he graduated from East Texas Baptist University with a degree in math and religion. Ron served as education director at Town East Baptist Church in Dallas, and then he and his first wife, Evie, moved to Waco when he was hired by the VA Regional Office. Ron was widowed shortly after coming to Waco. He met and married Penny Peach in 1975. After retiring from the VA, he went back to work at the Texas Veterans Commission and was working there at the time of his illness and death. Ron came to know Jesus as his Lord and Savior as a child and followed Him all the days of his life. He served as a deacon and elder at Highland Baptist Church and was one of the original members of Antioch Community Church, where he served in many ways.

Ron enjoyed wood working, traveling, and stamp collecting and was a member of the local Stamp Club.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Penny; daughter, Sunni Barnes and her husband, Brad; son, Charlie; granddaughter, Kayli Barnes; brothers, Jim Allison and his wife, Sandy, and Rick Allison and his wife, Judy; sister, Becky Chapa and her partner, Deb O'Connor; as well as many nieces and nephews.
