He was born in the Clearspring district, the son of Henry and Catherine (Burrows) Shupp, and had resided in Williamsport the greater part of his life.
He was a C & O Canal boatman and dealer in flour and grain. Mr. Shupp was a member of the Methodist Church, and was a trustee and member of the board for 35 years. He also was a member of the Odd Fellows in Williamsport.
Besides his wife, Mrs. Amanda (Stump) Shupp, he is survived by the following: daughters, Mrs. Harry McElroy, Williamsport, and Mrs. John L. Whitmore, Martinsburg; sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Burkett, Washington, DC; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at the home Saturday at 2 pm with Revs. Cyril Hoover and William Huddle officiating. Interment in River View Cemetery. The body may be viewed at the Leaf Funeral Home from 7 to 9 pm Thursday. (Please omit flowers)
