Ben, 86, was born in Ogden, December 18, 1929, to Raymond and Viola Jean Rudd.

He married Vera Eschler, and they were later divorced.

On June 25, 1972, he married Joan (Joanie) Phelan, and for 44 years devoted himself to loving and caring for her.

Ben attended Weber State University and USU. He loved Weber State and was awarded Wildcat Superfan 1993-1994.

He was very civic-minded, and served as President of the Footprinters Association.

He loved to spend his mornings with his longtime friends, and they would solve all problems daily. It was a special relationship, both ways.

Ben was a super salesman among salesmen, and received many awards. He was the ultimate entertainer both in sales and performing as "The Big Whistler"

Ben loved fishing and golf. He loved his weekend home in Bear Lake and his condo in Hawaii. He enjoyed his yearly trips to Napa Valley wine country and San Diego.

Ben was proceeded in death by his parents; sister, Shirley Wikstrom; and brother, Robert Rudd.

He is survived by his loving wife, Joanie; two sons: David Eccles, Ogden; Kent (Patti) Holsten, Roy; and daughter, Connie Tyler, Ogden; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; nieces: Jewell (Rick) McCoy, Ogden; Diana (Cal) Hadley, Ogden; sister-in-law, Patti (Dennis) Toth Sequim, Washington; and special friend, Sara Eccles Taylor.

Ben donated his body to U of U Medical Center for research and advancing medical science.

Per Ben's wishes, there will be no viewing or funeral.
