1933-2013
Our loving mother, grandmother, and friend passed away on January 11, 2013, surrounded by her loving family. Shirley LuRae Rudd was born on January 6, 1933 to Viola L. Jones and Raymond D. Rudd. She graduated from Ogden High School in 1951. She worked at Hill Air Force Base prior to moving to San Francisco, Ca. There she worked at the San Francisco Naval Ship Yard.
She married Raymond L. Hudson on May 1, 1954. They were the proud parents of Diana H. (Calvin) Hadley and Jewell H. (Rick) McCloy. They were later divorced. She married Charles M. Wikstrom on December 22, 1979. They were later sealed in the Ogden Temple in 1996.
Her greatest desire in life was to be a good mother, and to raise her daughters in the gospel of Jesus Christ.
During her life mom also worked at Western Auto, American Linen, and B-Mart.
Mom enjoyed great musical theater. She loved Helen Steiner Rice poetry, her scriptures, photography, traveling, and the view of Ben Lomond Peak. But most of all she loved her family and dear friends.
She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Mom struggled with mental illness for many years. During this time she was assisted by and contributed to Weber County Mental Health, PAAG, the Oasis Program and her counselors.
Special thanks to Dixie Brenchley and Mary Hurst for their love and companionship. Also to the marvelous staff at Manor Care Rehab, for their care and service of our mother these last three months.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Charles Wikstrom, her brother Robert Rudd, and a granddaughter Jennifer M. Hulse.
Survivors include her two daughters and their husbands, grandchildren: Lisa Richards, Kristin Winn, Cristal Cassity, Laura Scothern, Derek McCloy, Amber Whittier, and Markel McCloy; and 10 great-grandchildren; and one dear brother J. Ben Rudd.
Donations in her honor may be made to The Senior Companion Program or Weber County Mental Health, both located at 237 26th Street, Ogden, UT 84401.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, January 17, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Myers Ogden Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd, Ogden. The family will meet friends on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and prior to services on Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Interment in the Ogden City Cemetery.
God be with you until we meet again Mother, We love You!
