This is a lost cemetery located in Mt. Pleasant at the corner of East First and South Lide Avenue, lying South of East First and East of South Lide. Members of the Christian, Fitzpatrick and other early day families of Titus County were buried in this cemetery. In 1903, F. W. Fitzpatrick, whose wife was Ella Christian, had Wesley Johnson and his son, "Black Bill" Johnson to move the monuments to the Masonic Cemetery, and the Johnsons also dug into some of the graves and if any remains were found, all were placed in one box and it is presumed that these remains were buried in the Masonic Cemetery.
There are several monuments on the Christian lot in the Masonic Cemetery, both to members of Christian and Fitzpatrick families that were moved from the Christian Cemetery. However, there were numerous graves in this cemetery on which no attempt was made to remove the remains, and doubtless many houses in the area have been built over the graves. Since there are no traces remaining of the graves, no further attempt to locate the cemetery has been expended.
To reach the Christian Cemetery from the Titus County court house, take 1st Street (East) to the intersection with Lide Avenue. Turn right (South) onto Lide Avenue. The cemetery will lie as described above.
