Settlers to Gwinnett County formed the Level Creek Methodist Church in 1823. The original log church, built in 1828, and its cemetery were here. There are no church burial records for this location. Except for some uninscribed remnants of one box tomb, there are no cemetery markers. Therefore, burials at this original site are purely speculative. Today, nothing remains of the old church, but this cemetery is designated as an historic preservation area within the gated Lake Forest Estates subdivision. In 1838, the congregation of the Level Creek Methodist Church then moved from this location to its present location, 1.1 mile south on Suwanee Dam road. As of 2019, that church and cemetery is still very much active.
