This cemetery is associated with the Joseph Orrison family according to an article in the 4 May 1978 Herndon Observer. An account of Joseph Orrson's life was featured in the 1 April 1988 issue of the Observer in an article by Melissa Dye.
Fairfax Genealogical Soc member Norma Slack Young wrote to the Publication Committee about the cemetery which she says was located across the road and to the south of the Orrison house, lined up slightly southeast of the kitchen:
more to be written about her husband Freeland Young's account..
The Orrison Family Cemetery was surveyed in 1974, 1982 1988, 1996 and 1997. The 1974 surveyor described the cemetery as "a depository for trash, bulldozed, overgrown and vandalized, it can only be described as a disaster." In 1988, however , the surveyor found the area "neat and trimmed and the circle perimeter now occupied by homes." Per `1978 Observer article, Chris Antigone, builder and developer of Kingston Chase, took steps to protect the cemetery grounds during construction of the homes around it, preservind the trees and adding new landscaping.
In 1997 Freeland Young identified the site of the plantation house once standing between 1600 -1602 Permit Ct.
