Leading up to WWII the land around this cemetery was condemned to create Army Camp Swift. While the cemetery remained inside the army camp, burials in this cemetery had to have a military escort. After WWII, prior landowners could repurchase their old lands, but many had moved on. In later years, families still in the area were brought in to identify unmarked graves but there are many still unidentified.
