Hiram House, son of Alexander and Susan Bowling House moved to Ripley County, Oxly, Missouri in the late 1800s. There their two brothers, William and Jacob joined him at the turn of the century. Hiram and Wife Alice Roddy House had a son John House who was kicked in the head by a horse and died at the age of 11 in 1902. He is buried in Antioch Cemetery in Oxly, Ripley County, Missouri along with William and Jacob and William's son Clyde House Sr. and Jacob's son Frank House. Hiram and Alice along with all their living children (except son Chester and wife Hattie, who lived and died in St. Louis, Missouri) and their husband and wives left Missouri by way of Arkansas and moved to Des Moines in 1922 to work in a sand and gravel plant in Des Moines, Iowa where they both died.
