Born the sixth child of William D. Fore and his wife Chloey Elizabeth Callahan called "Louisa" in Arkansas circa 1849. He was one of eleven children. His siblings were Albert Marion, Mary A., Robert, Thomas Jefferson, William Monroe, James Larkin, Franklin, Sarah Ann, Julia Ann and Tennessee.

Augustus is recorded in the 1850 census in District 98, Texas County, Missouri as Washington Ford.

In the 1860 census, in Bastrop, Bastrop County, Texas as Augustas Faur.

In the 1870 census in Gatesville, Precinct 5, Coryell County, Texas census as Glusston Dore.

His sisters Julia and Mary A. (Fore) Walker and brother Thomas Jefferson Fore are also buried here.
