MRS. ED STAATS RITES SATURDAY
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Dudgeon funeral home for Mrs. Mabel Vallie Benson Staats, 68, who died Wednesday night, Dec. 17 at her home here. She had been a resident of this community for many years. She was the daughter of William and Sadie Main Benson and was born March 1, 1884 in Illinois. She was married to Edward Staats June 22, 1899. Mrs. Staats was a member of the Christian Science faith. She is survived by her husband; three sons, Carl, Elmer, and Jack, all of Wapello; a daughter, Mrs. Lady Willets of Muscatine; 21 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Rodney Thompson of Bettendorf, Mrs. Bertha McDowell of Wapello, and Mrs. Jennie Wellington of Hanna City, IL; one brother, Edward Benson in California. A son and two daughters preceded her in death. The services Saturday were in charge of the Rev. Caleb B. Larson of Grandview and burial was in Harrison cemetery.
