Joe Sallee (changed the spelling of his name about 1900; see end of this note), husband of Elfreda Mae Thompson Sallee was born in Brinkley, Arkansas. Joe and Mae married on 1 Oct 1911 in Dallas, Texas at the First Bapt Ch w/Geo W. Truett doing the wedding. He owned several sandwich shops and bars and worked in several places as a bartender after they separated (unknown date). Proof is available that Joe (Joseph) changed his name about 1900, having moved from Dawson, Texas to Dallas. His father was Joseph Salley (date of B and D, as well as burial are unknown) and gf was David F. Salley, a "Campbellite Preacher" of Ouachita County, Arkansas. (by Kirk Castleman)
