Obituary from The Anderson Daily Bulletin, Published Saturday May 18, 1957, Page 3 Column 3:

William Marlett Dies In Arkansas - William A Marlett, 65, Anderson resident for 46 years, died at his home in Hot Springs, Ark at 12:30 p.m. Friday. He had been in failing health for five years. Mr. Marlett was born in Carrollton, KY., and came to Anderson when he was sixteen. He moved to Hot Springs three years ago. He was a former employee of Delco-Remy Division Plant 3, and a member of AFL-CIO local 662. Survivors include: his widow, Grace Marlett, Hot Springs; three sons, Wayne of Detroit, George Norman of Torrence, Calif., and Carl of Hot Springs; two sisters, Mrs. Price Smith and Mrs. Carl Fisher, both of Anderson; one brother, George L Marlett of Anderson; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The body will be taken to the Brown and Butz Funeral Home here. Friends will be received at the funeral home after 7 p.m. Sunday. Serves will be announced later.

Final rites for William A Marlett, 65, who died at his home in Hot Springs, Ark., will be conducted at the Brown and Butz Funeral Home Tuesday (5/21st) at 2:30 p.m. by the Rev. George Harris, pastor of the East Lynn Christian Church. Interment will occur in East Maplewood Cemetery. Friends are being received at the Funeral Home. Mr. Marlett was a former Anderson resident.

Marriage 1: William A Marlett first married Ruth H Griffith, (we beleive she is the dau of Ambert H Griffith and Martha E Hoppes HOWEVER The Indianapolis Star Marriage Announcement says daughter of M/M J.T. Griffith of Anderson...this needs to be further researched) 12/10/1910 at Newport, Campbell County, KY. They had 3 known sons: William "Wayne", Carl O, and George Norman. Ruth died of pneumonia November 1918, less than 2 months after the birth of George Norman (son born in Estill County KY...assuming Ruth died in Anderson IN).

Marriage 2: William A Marlett then married Grace Smith, sister of his brother-in-law Price Smith (Nellie E Marlett), 12/13/1919 at Anderson IN. Grace Died 3/3/1977 and the 3 boys are noted as step-sons in her obituary, confirming the relationship.
