George L Marlett, 75, of 1020 W Third St., died Saturday morning at Community Hospital after a two year illness.

Mr. Marlett was born in Carrollton, KY., on Sept. 26, 1895 to George W. and Julia Mitchell Marlett and moved to Anderson in 1906. He retired from the Guide Lamp Division in 1965.

He was a member of the Central Christian Church and the UAW local 693. He is survived by his widow Bessie S Marlette (sic). Their only son, Francis L. Marlett was killed during the Battle of the Bulge in December, 1944 during World War II. Other survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Price (Nellie) Smith and Mrs. Carl (Nettie) Fisher of Anderson; six nephews and three nieces.

The Rev. Monroe Schuster of the central Christian Church will officiate at the services to be conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Brown and Butz Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Carl Marlett, George N. Marlett, Wayne Marlett, John Knisley, Gene Herkless and Don Wessell. Mr. Marlett will be buried at the East Maplewood Cemetery.

Friends may call on the family at the mortuary from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and 3 to 6 and 7 to 9 Monday.
