Dollie Corinne Shank was originally from Pinesburg, MD. She married William Richardson Garrett on October 22, 1916 and they had two children, Verda Garrett and George "Pete" Garrett. The family moved to Williamsport, MD so the children could be educated at the new school there. For a while, Dollie ran a restaurant in Williamsport. Tragically, her son Pete drowned in the Conococheague Creek near the aqueduct behind the Cushwa basin on June 21, 1929. After that, the family couldn't bear to live in Williamsport anymore and moved to the Wilson area near Clear Spring. During the last two years of her life, Dollie had chronic endocarditis which was the cause of her death.
