VETERAN
Moroni J. Cottam, 74, 71 E. 400 S., Provo, Utah, died Friday in a Salt Lake City hospital following a long illness.
He was born Jan. 3, 1892, in St. George, a son of Thomas P. and Emmaline Jarvis Cottam. He married Ramona Farrer in the St. George Temple on Sept. 4, 1924. He died April 30, 1966.
He received his education in St. George schools and attended Brigham Young University. Mr. Cottam was employed by the Provo School District and taught mechanical arts at the Provo Junior [Senior?] High and the Dixon Junior High schools. He was a veteran of World War I, having served in France and Germany and was a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Mr. Cottam taught in the Sunday School and the deacons quorum, served as secretary of the 283rd Quorum of the Seventy, and at the time of his death, he was a high priest in the Provo First Ward.
Surviving are one daughter, Joan Cottam, Salt Lake City; four brother and two sisters, Thomas, Nevada; Arthur, St. George; Walter, Salt Lake City; Clarence, Texas; Mrs. Emma MacArthur [McArthur], St. George; Mrs. Annie Wilson, Salt Lake City.
Funeral services will be held at Our Chapel of Memories Mortuary Monday at 1 p.m. with Bishop Arnold N. Davis of the Provo First Ward officiating. Friends may call at the mortuary tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday prior to services. Interment will be in the Provo City Cemetery.
