Son of Edom Lovitt and Courtney Creekmore of Whitley County ,Kentucky. Husband of Mary Elizabeth Savage. Mary also died in Leonard in 1929 and her death certificate indicates burial in Leonard ,Texas.
Martin served in the Civil War for the Confederacy in Hardeman's Regiment , Texas 31st Cavalry Company A
First Regiment , Arizona Brigade , as a Sargent
15 Apr 1862 - 24 May 1865.

Children of Martin and Mary, as best as I can figure:
Samuel Arthur
Armilda (or Armidula)
Allen Monroe
Virginia
Melvina
Sidney Archer
Joseph M.
Anna Pearl.
Oscar
Mollie Lovette Dotson

Martin was one of 14 children. Two of his brothers fought for the Union.
The spelling of Martin's family name varied between Lovett, Lovitt ,Lovette, and Lovit commonly within all generations.

Martin's death date is listed as 1905 on the cemetery records , but is listed as 1895 on his wife's civil war pension papers. As he is listed on the 1900 census , I would think he died in 1905 .
