Leroy Baker, 66, of Carmichaels, went to be with Jesus Saturday, March 3, 2012, in Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va., after an extended illness.

He was born July 11, 1945, in Stringtown, son of the late William Leroy and Mary Murphy Baker.

Surviving are his wife, Joyce Bowser Baker; a son, Ryan Baker; a daughter, Janet Baker Boyer (Ron); grandsons Noah Boyer and Adam and Luke Baker; and a granddaughter, Rhiana Stephens.

Deceased, in addition to his parents, are a brother, Eugene, in infancy, and a sister, Loretta Teagarden.

Mr. Baker was a 1964 graduate of Cumberland Township High School.

He served in the U.S. Army Reserve from 1961 to 1972.

Mr. Baker worked as a meat cutter and assistant manager at Honsaker's Foodland for 25 years. He also served as a Cumberland Township police officer from 1980 to 1987 and served the Point Marion community in that capacity. He was a truancy and security officer for Carmichaels Area School District. He was elected by the citizens of Cumberland Township as supervisor from 1994 to 2005, when he retired.

He was a member of Greene Valley Church of God.

Mr. Baker was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt, fish and shoot trap. He was known for his great sense of humor and selfless generosity. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife, children, grandchildren, family and friends.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday and 10 to 11 a.m., the time of service, Tuesday, March 6, in Lesako Funeral Home Inc., 204 Dowlin Avenue, Carmichaels, PA 15320, 724-966-5100, Paul M.
