HARRISBURG -- Jaylynn Ferrell, 22, died Wednesday, Feb. 29, 2012, at home as the result of a tornado.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church in Harrisburg, with the Rev. Chris Winkleman and Joe Thompson officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the church.

Memorials may be made to Jaylynn Ferrell Scholarship Fund for Nursing Students.

Reed Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

1989 – 2012

Jaylynn Ferrell, 22, of Harrisburg, passed away Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at her residence as the result of a tornado.

She was born on November 2, 1989, in Paducah, KY to Dennis Jay and Patty (Peters) Ferrell. Jaylynn was a RN at Harrisburg Medical Center Special Care. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Harrisburg where she taught Sunday school for 3 year olds.

Surviving family members include her parents: Dennis and Patty Ferrell of Herod; brother: Austin Ferrell of Herod, IL; paternal grandparents: Ann and Dennis Ferrell of Herod; maternal grandmother: Anita Peters of Herod; uncle: Roger Peters of Seattle, WA; two cousins: Kevin and Thomas Peters and their mother Kim of Belleville, several great aunts and uncles. She is also survived by her First Baptist Church family, especially her 3 year old Sunday school class, nursing friends, and Pope County High School and Harrisburg High School friends.

She was preceded in death her maternal grandfather: Thomas Peters; great-grandparents: Marie and George Emmel, Wimpy and Florence Hombirg, and Ralph and Audie Ferrell; special uncle: Gene Ferrell.

Funeral services will be held at 1 PM, Saturday, March 3, 2012 at the First Baptist Church of Harrisburg. Rev. Chris Winkleman and Joe Thompson will officiate. Burial will follow in Sunset Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 PM, Friday, March 2, 2012 at the First Baptist Church of Harrisburg. Memorial contributions may be made to the Jaylynn Ferrell Scholarship Fund for Nursing Students. Envelopes will be available at the church.
