Lucinda married Carl Monroe Banks on July 6, 1907. Her husband was arrested for bigamy 2 years later. He married Lucinda using an assumed name, but was not divorced from the first woman, Clara Nevitt. He was sentenced to 5 years in prison. While in prison, Carl started divorce proceedings from his first wife. He was finally able to marry Lucinda legally 4 years after the fake one. She moved to Anamosa, Ia. to be near him while he served his sentence. Alas, the marriage did not survive.

Her second marriage was held on Oct 24, 1917 in Decatur county, IA to Enos Charles Lovell at Lamoni, Iowa. Unfortunately, he was an absentee father for most of his children's lives.

Lucinda and her children depended on the kindness of her family to help them. Her older brothers helped when they could.
