He was the son of the late William B. Ward and Millicent Beasley Ward. He was married to the late Ruby Varner and they had two daughters, Millicent and Ruby Jane. He had one brother, the late Maj. Ralph Ward, and a sister (now deceased) Millicent McKeithen Colvin.
Bill was the owner of Ward Realty in Concord, N.C. He was a member of Stokes Lodge #32 AF&AM,and an honorary life member of the Cabarrus County Board of Realtors. He was also a past president of the Lions Club and was a member of Central Methodist Church.
