Richard C. "Dick" Fairman, age 80, of Home, formerly of Ernest, died Friday, March 25, 2011 at Indiana Regional Medical Center.

A son of the late Walter M. and Marjorie Pounds Fairman, he was born June 20, 1930 in Creekside.

Mr. Fairman attended the Ernest Bible Church and worked on the family farm until 1955. He was also employed by the Rayne Township Supervisors and was associated with Johnston's Nursery in Creekside until he retired. Dick went to the Indiana Mall every Saturday where he met his many friends and would often be seen walking from Ernest on his daily two mile walk. He enjoyed going to flea markets, working in his garden in the summer and had a great collection of hats.

He is survived by five brothers and three sisters: James Fairman of Creekside; Tom Fairman of Home; Jack Fairman and wife Audrey of Youngstown, OH; Walter Fairman of Niles, OH; Joe Fairman and wife Nancy of Bridgeton, New Jersey; Alice Hager of Millville, New Jersey; Catherine Williamson and husband Dave of Newfield New Jersey; Linda Liptak of Dixonville and many nieces and nephews.

In addition his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Genesi; a nephew, Jack Fairman, Jr.; two sisters-in-law and three brothers-in-law.

Friends will be received from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Robinson-Lytle, Inc. in Indiana with Pastor John Sykes officiating.

Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
