Thomas Milton Fairman, 88, of Indiana, formerly of Home, died Friday Dec. 11, 2015, at St. Andrew’s Village.

A son of the late Walter M. and Marjorie A. Pounds Fairman, he was born Aug. 12, 1927, in Creekside.

Mr. Fairman proudly served his country in the U.S. Army as a military policeman, while stationed at the Ford Meade Base in Maryland. Tom received the good conduct medal. Following his discharge from the Army, he worked as a welder for USX Steel in Gary, IN. He attended Calvary Presbyterian Church. Tom was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed bowling, watching stock car racing and the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #313 in Indiana where he was a 32nd degree mason and a member of the Tall Cedars of Lebanon in Hammond, IN. After moving back to Home, he drove school bus for the Marion Center School District for 10 years. Tom and his late wife enjoyed traveling, going to every state in the U.S. and to six foreign countries.

He is survived by two brothers: Walter Fairman, Jr., of Niles, OH; Joe Fairman and wife Nancy, of Bridgton, NJ; three sisters: Alice Hager, of Millville NJ; Catherine Williamson and husband Dave, of Newfield, NJ; and Linda Liptak, of Dixonville; sister-in-law, Audrey Fairman, of Youngstown, OH; a special brother-in-law, John Hunter, of Indiana; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Barbara J. Hunter Fairman; a sister, Margaret Genesi; three brothers: Jim Fairman, Dick Fairman and Jack Fairman; one nephew, Jack Fairman; a sister-in-law and three brothers-in-law.

Per Mr. Fairman’s request, there will be no visitation. A graveside service will be held in Greenwood Cemetery at the convenience of the family, with Pastor John Sykes officiating. Robinson-Lytle, Inc. is in charge of arrangements.
