Known as Daniel "Hill" Cameron and was one of the four original elders at Barbecue Presbyterian Church. Barbecue Presbyterian Church was formally organized in 1758 and is considered the mother church in the surrrounding counties. The church was named after a nearby creek, Barbecue Creek, and was named so by an early settler who saw steam rising from it. The steam reminded him of the meat-cooking pits he had seen in the Caribbean.
