Herbert was born June 17, 1934 in Bronson, son of George and Ruth (Langford) Earley. He moved to Sioux City as a young boy and attended Sioux City Schools. He served in the United States Air Force during Korean conflict; was stationed in Japan from 1952-1956, served with the 185th Iowa Air National Guard from 1975-1983. He married Jayne Stubbe on April 26, 1959 in George, Iowa. They were blessed with three children, Dave, Jeff and Laura. The couple later divorced. He worked at Johnson Biscuit in the early 1960s. Then he worked for Kind and Knox from 1968 to his retirement in 1996. He was a member of Community United Methodist Church. He enjoyed fishing, watching hockey, auto racing, especially sprint cars, fast pitch softball games and tournaments. He also collected hats and T-shirts and enjoyed cooking. Survivors include, two sons, Dave and wife Dee, and Jeff all of Sioux City; a daughter Laura and friend Robert Peterson of Ill.; five sisters, Mrs. Al (Judy) Claton, Mrs. Bob (Rosie) Fester all of Sioux City, Mrs. Larry Anna Marie) Martinson of New Castle, Neb., Mrs. Jerry (Ruth) Riley of Texas, Beverly Davis of Sioux City; brother-in-law, John Hanson of Sioux City; three grandsons; a granddaughter; several nieces and nephews and friends. Preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, George and Richard Earley, two sisters, Louise Hansen and Betty Wyant.
